This article serves as a guide for users who may encounter a workflow error when updating a Data Source Value step. The issue, cause, solution/s, and release versions affected are documented here for the users' reference.
What is the issue being addressed in this scenario?
When using the Update Datasource Value step in the workflow to update the Candidate Status, the error “500:You are not allowed to change the candidate application status. with the index 0” is encountered. The issue occurs even when the correct user permission is set up in SuccessFactors.
What causes this error?
This particular error occurs when the Applicant Status value is selected in the workflow step.
There are certain statuses in SuccessFactors Recruiting which are non-selectable by default. Therefore, they cannot be used in this workflow step.
The following statuses are non-selectable BY DEFAULT:
-
- Forwarded
- Invite to Apply
- Auto Disqualified
- Withdrawn by Candidate (given scenario)
- Declined DPCS
- Deleted on demand by Admin
- Deleted on demand by Candidate
- Requisition Closed
What solution/s or workaround/s may be applied?
Select a different and applicable Applicant Status value in the workflow step. Do not use the non-selectable values in the workflow.
If necessary, create a new status in SuccessFactors Recruiting that fits the implementation requirements. Follow these SF configuration steps when updating the Application Status step via Strato Automate:
1. Go to Admin Center > Edit Applicant Status Configuration.
2. Select the relevant Applicant Status Set.
3. After that, click “Add New Status” and select the status that you wish to add. Once selected, click the “Add” button.
4. Once added, open the Status Settings by clicking the ‘Status Name’ or the ‘Take Action’ button.
After adding the new Applicant Status, you can now use the new value in your workflow.
What release versions are affected?
Users may encounter this error in all release versions.
